District 5960 Rotarians reacted quickly this spring to provide comfort to those impacted most by Covid-19. District Foundation leaders successfully applied for a $25,000 grant from Rotary’s Disaster Response Fund, and spread those funds out to clubs to use the way they saw fit in their communities, and the clubs contributed over $25,000 of their own funds to these projects. Along with that Disaster Response grant, District 5960 had some leftover District Designated Funds that we challenged clubs to match. The result was $9,000 donations to each of three organizations that provide services throughout our District: Second Harvest Heartland, Channel One Regional Food Bank, and the YMCA of the North. Combining these two initiatives, allowed our clubs to collectively mobilize over $77,000 into our communities in a time of great need.
